Waiting by the Telephone

I have an interview--of sorts--sometime this week. It's for an internship with one of my favorite publications in the world ... which I shall not name for fear that I might jinx the selection process (punishment for "counting my chickens" and all that). Bottom line is that I have to hang out in my dorm room near the phone for 4 to 8 hours a day--hours to which I committed making myself available for a phone call from the hiring supervisor.

Any favorable eventual result will be announced to readers of this blog. (A rejection, however, will simply be ignored and hopefully forgotten over time.)

The good thing is that I have been broadening the scope of my on-line news-hunting and am failry up-to-date with news in selected countries and regions of the world. In another post, I will list some of the recent news stories that have caught my eye.
